TracHacksPlugin not compatible with Python 2.3
Reported by: | anonymous | Owned by: | Alec Thomas |
---|---|---|---|
Priority: | normal | Component: | TracHacksPlugin |
Severity: | normal | Keywords: | |
Cc: | Trac Release: | 0.10 |
Description
Use of the "sorted()" built-in function makes the current build of this plugin incompatible with python 2.3 (minimum of 2.4 is now required). Also, there is another dependency (XmlRpcPlugin) that is required for this plugin that isn't mentioned in the plugin wiki.
The only reason I bring this up is that I've spent several hours trying to track these problems down, so hopefully this might save someone else the time.
As always, make sure to enable DEBUG logging when you run into problems!
Suggestion for resolution: Update the wiki page for this plugin specifying Python 2.4 as a minimum requirement, and the additional requirement for XmlRpcPlugin.

A fair question. I'm wanting to set up a trac instance that supports multiple projects and SVN repos for user contributions for a wiki I help maintain (WikkaWiki). I've tried TraM with little success, and there's not much else out there for multi-project management.

trac-hacks is a very good site for hosting efficiently and usefully a multi-modules project.
- Is it possible to use this plugin to have something similar to trac-hacks?
- Is there a chance that it will be compatible with python-2.3?

To the original poster, please feel free to update the Wiki page with any details :).
I am dropping support for Python 2.3, as Trac will be doing the same soon and I don't think it's unreasonable.
To sylv1, you could probably use the plugin, but it would require some work by you to customise it to your environment.
Out of curiosity why are you trying to run this? It is pretty specific to this site, and such isn't documented beyond the source.
