#12607 closed enhancement (fixed)

Using multiple fields in a template

Reported by: gary.swofford@… Owned by: Richard Liao
Priority: normal Component: TracTicketTemplatePlugin
Severity: minor Keywords:
Cc: Trac Release: 1.0

Description

This is a usability question, I can't find the documentation for this on the Trac Ticket Template wiki page.

On the wiki page it says this:

template can include any fields, the default field is description

What is the syntax to include other fields in a template? This is not mentioned anywhere.

I had to do some testing to figure out how it worked. To create a template that sets other fields, go to the New Ticket page and set all the fields you'd like to be included in the template. For example, set component = component2 and Summary = My Summary. Select Create in the My Templates box, enter and template name and Save. Refresh the page and select your template from My Templates; you should find that the defaults you set for that template have been applied.

Edited TracTicketTemplatePlugin@46.

I didn't explain the situation well enough... How do you define templates with multiple fields on the system level. With "enable_custom = false". I don't want non-admin users to create templates. I want to define the template with admin rights, by going to "Admin -> Ticket Template". Is this possible?

That feature isn't implemented. It wouldn't be too difficult to implement, either via Trac's web administration or through the TracAdmin command line tool. So trac:PatchWelcome. However, I don't have time to do anything other than quick fixes for bugs. The plugin creator hasn't been heard from in years, so I doubt he'll be doing any more work on the plugin.

No problem, thanks for explaining the situation. My users are ok with the current functionality.
