Description
As originally reported in t:#8360, it would be nice to use updater's name and email for 'From:' and/or 'Reply-to:' email message headers.
This is deemed useful to easily see, who was modifying a ticket in a list of messages. Also, it enables easy reply directly to the change/comment author.
Especially care for Mark Potter's suggestions on improving the feature (see t:#10578), that has been committed to Trac in t:r10421. Cite:
Additionally allow, which could be used instead:
- Setting the
Reply-To:
field to the change author. - Adding the author to the from-name. e.g. User
Ford
makes a change to a ticket in the HHGTrac system from Megadodo Publications. This results in emails with a from line something like:From: Ford via HHGTrac <trac@megadodo.com>

Please upgrade to Trac 1.2, which has integrated the core of AnnouncerPlugin. Please raise the issue on the trac:MailingList if you encounter the issue with Trac 1.2.
Note: See
TracTickets for help on using
tickets.
After thinking a bit more I feel like especially the feature referenced with t:#10578 could fit in rather easily. So because of disputes about the initial implementation this might be the way to go and make some more people happy.
